Yankees Trading Alex Rodriguez?
Baseball has been hard to write about after how bad the Red Sox season was. Basically the only thing I want to talk about is how the Red Sox are going to get better, but it's hard to ignore the nuke that seems to be about to go off in New York.
I bet most of us know the story, but I'll recap quickly, so that we are all on the same page. A-Rod has had a terrible postseason (3 for 23, including 0 for 18 with 12 strikeouts against right-handers). It has gotten to the point where the Yankees can't even start him. If that wasn't bad enough, he was also caught trying to get some girls' number during Game 1 of the American League Championship.
*Side note: the chick was Kyna Treacy... Here's a pic...
As you can probably imagine this isn't sitting well with the Yankees and their fans. It has got the point where rumors are flying that this could be the end of the line in NY, but with almost $150 million left of his contract, and the fact that he has been getting worse every year since 2007, how is it even possible someone would take them. I guess the Yankees could eat a lot of it, but that's a lot of money to just eat.
Obviously, Cashman is denying all of this since the Yankees are still in the postseason, and the trade deadline is very far behind us. Yet, this won't change that there is going to be a huge storm this offseason for the Yankees and it is going to center around A-Rod and the age of their big contracts.
All this noise about A-Rod makes the Red Sox deal of Crawford and A-Gon look even better. The Yankees are really going to have a hard time getting rid of him. Maybe they can find a deal like the Red Sox did, but you would have to be a crackhead to trade for A-Rod right now unless the Yankees are eating most of the contract.
Right now, the Marlins are being rumored as a team that he could go to, and you can never count out the Dodgers.
